The great thing about this list is that most of the items are under $20, but are very useful to have on hand. Some things would be way more difficult to do without them, some would be impossible.
- Vegetable Peeler
Ok, I know I said most things were under $20, but I’d never had a GOOD vegetable peeler until a few years ago and it is LIFE CHANGING. If you can afford a high quality peeler, I highly recommend it. - Pizza Cutter
- Biscuit Cutter
This set includes a bench scraper, which is also on the intermediate list.
Or this is just a set of biscuit cutters
- Bench scraper
- Potato Masher
- Ladle
- Microplane Grater (this one has a few color options)
- Basting Brushes
- Rolling Pin
Or this fun set here
- Steamer Basket
- Cookie Scoop
- Mini Chopper
- Salad Spinner
-
- Citrus Juicer
- Potato Ricer
- Spiralizer
Also on the list are a wok, rice cooker, crock pot, hand mixer and blender. I don’t have any of these items because I have an InstantPot and a Vitamix, so I’m not comfortable making personal recommendations for these items.
I highly recommend purchasing an InstantPot instead of a rice cooker/crockpot and a Vitamix or other high speed blender instead of a hand mixer or conventional blender. If you can’t afford a Vitamix (I get it, they’re really expensive), then some blenders also function as food processors or mini choppers. Those are a better choice than low power blenders that only blend.
Please see the “Advanced Cooking Utensils” list for my recommendations.
